The Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB)[1] is the independent regulator for charity fundraising in the UK. The FRSB works to ensure that charity fundraising is always honest, legal, respectful, transparent and accountable.
Launched in February 2007 as a self-regulatory scheme, the onus lies with charities and fundraising suppliers to opt into market regulation through the FRSB.[2] Member organisations make a commitment to the 'Fundraising Promise',[3] to adhere to the highest standards of fundraising practice and to being transparent and accountable in their fundraising. They display the FRSB's tick logo on fundraising materials and appeals, encouraging the UK public to give with confidence.
The FRSB regulates fundraising practice against industry standards, monitoring complaints about charity fundraising and working to resolve issues between the public and fundraisers. Complaints are escalated through a formal three step process.[4] The annual fundraising complaints report[5] and any adjudications are published at the FRSB's website.[6]
Registered as a Community Interest Company (No 5842626),[7] the FRSB is headed up by Chief Executive Alistair McLean,[8] and Chairman Colin Lloyd.
